Supervision and Consultation

Specialized training and supervision matters.  It reminds us we can’t offer a one size fits all approach to populations we see. There are nuances and elements necessary to explore that help us offer developmentally appropriate means to meet the mental health needs of children and their families. As a practitioner, I believe play is powerfully therapeutic for not only children but all ages of the lifespan.

 

It’s important for you to know the background and experience of the supervisor with whom you choose to work.  Since graduating with my MAC degree in 2013, I’ve spent 10+ years working in community mental health settings including in-home and school based, as a district mental health counselor for a local school system, as well as owning and operating a private practice focused on play therapy.  Prior to becoming a counselor, I spent six years teaching language arts both in Central Florida school systems and overseas in China. 

 

My supervision scope of practice includes: play therapy, child therapy for ages 3-12, trauma, attachment wounds, sand tray therapy, EMDR and working with parents.  

 

Some clinicians may only want to consult on cases to gain a better understanding of child development, working with parents, and learning more about play therapy.  Consultation appointments are available, but please note these appointments do not provide hours for licensure or play therapy supervision.
