Child Play Therapy

You want to enjoy parenting, but so much of the time it feels like mere survival, and you’re exhausted.

Stomach aches and tears at daycare dropoff. Another negative report sent home from the teacher. An “easy” child suddenly morphs into an angry and withdrawn tween. Tantrums, power struggles, and an overall sense of being overwhelmed seem to fill your home.

You do what you can to pretend everything is under control, that is until the smallest trigger brings familiar feelings of incompetence, powerlessness and shame.

Why does it seem to be so easy for everyone else? Why isn’t anything bringing change or relief?

At Willow Lane Counseling, our clients are just like you. Moms and dads overwhelmed by the demands of discipline and parenting, yet who desire to connect, understand and support their children.

We help parents ease the overwhelm, coming alongside them to identify areas of both strength and growth. We also help children better understand big feelings, including how to communicate and express them to others.

Through the use of play therapy and expressive arts, children gain skills and strategies to help them stay in control of their feelings and develop an emotional vocabulary and understanding of emotions while parents uncover ways to listen, communicate and connect with their children.
